  1. 零位稳定：所有涂层测厚仪测量前都要求校准零位，可以在随仪器的校零板或未涂覆的工件上校零。 　
  仪器零位的稳定是保证测量准确的前提。一台好的测厚仪校零后，可以长时间保持零位不漂移，确保准确测量。 
  2. 无需校准：多数测厚仪除了校零外，还需要用标准片进行调校。测量某一范围厚度，要用某一范围的标准片调校。主要是不能满足全范围内的线性精度。不仅操作烦琐，而且也会因标准片表面粗糙失效，增大系统误差。 　　
  3. 温度补偿：涂覆层厚度的测量受温度影响非常大。同一工件在不同温度下测量会得出很大的误差。所以好的测厚仪应该具备理想的温度补偿技术，以保证不同温度下的测量精度。 　　
  4. 红宝石探头：探头接触点的耐磨性直接影响测量的精度。普通金属接触探头，其表面磨损后会带来很大的误差。
