The human gene is located on chromosome 17q12, and its encoded product is 185kD transmembrane protamine p185, which is composed of 1255 amino acids. The 720 to 987 belongs to the tyrosine kinase region. Her-2/neu protein is a tyrosine protein kinase active transmembrane glycoprotein and is one of the members of the EGFR family.
Her-2/neu protein by extracellular ligand binding region, a single transmembrane region and intracellular protein tyrosine kinase domain is composed of three parts, because has not yet found the ligand can bind directly to Her-2/neu protein.
